Perspectives
In this series, I combine the geometry of projection with digital collage to create images of the kind of organic variability we associate with nature and movement of the human body.
To explore formal geometric relationships, I begin with lines and points defined with four coordinates and a variety of color mappings. I project these 4D objects in various ways onto virtual 3D objects, then render them as 2D graphical images.
We humans are adept at using apparent size, proportion and color in a 2D image to construct a mental 3D space. Constructing a 4D space is far less intuitive – I continue to be fascinated by the transformations that occur in these images.
